Amada Miyachi

Project background

Room acoustics is very important in noisy production halls. Amada Miyachi (subdivision Miyachi Eapro) builds assembly lines for products such as mobile telephones. These are delivered all over the world. When an assembly line is finished and is to be delivered, a sound test is done. The noise produced by the machine may not surpass the applicable regulations for maximum sound volume. During the sound test the sound standard was exceeded at Miyachi.

Project goal

Physixfactor was requested to analyse the influence of the positioning of the machine in its production hall. It was suspected that during the sound test the position of the machine was unfavourable for the maximum sound level, and the agreed sound level at the client would be exceeded. The task was to vary the positioning of the machine in the hall and determine the loudness in decibel with FEM simulation.

FEM simulation

The geometry and location of the assembly machine were entered in the model, as well as the location of the two largest vibration sources. The power of these sources were assessed by measurements, and a mean value could be entered. The position was varied in the hall. Thus the model represented where the sound volume would maximal.


The situation in the production hall was different for Miyachi compared to its client. This difference guaranteed that the sound level would surpass the specified values. As such, Physixfactor contributed to a prompt and smooth delivery.
