Xray sensor in vacuum
Physixfactor simulated the heat generation in a vacuumchamber for a Xray-sensor. The devices is embedded in a copper disk and cooled with a water circuit. The stress development and the maximum temperature during a giving power influx where all part of the design of the product. The material inside the disk consists of diamond. Diamond is a very exceptional material. It is the material to choose if anything else fails under extreme circumstances. The thermal conductivity of diamond is on average 3 – 6 times better than copper, depending on the diamond material quality. This property is used in the vacuum sensor where the X-ray inrensity, and thus heat generation is high.
Thermal load of a vacuum window.
In the high tech industry vacuum windows allow production operators to look inside a process chamber. If laserbeams are used for probing purposes with high intensity one would like to have a window with a low absorption of the laser radiation. To the right in the figure a laserbeam penetrates through a window. If the intensity is high, despite a low absorption coefficient the window is heated, inducing stresses which can become high. The window is from diamond material, and as expressed above the heat conduction and high Youngs modules are used as a property to be used to comply with the customers requirements.
